As much as I dislike that community college, it deserves a spot in the story. About the same time I met Adam I got a job at the bookstore at the customer service desk. Clever boy found a seat to study in at the bookstore cafe where we were in perfect view of each other across the shelves. Soon enough we had named it his seat and our flirtatious exchanges and glances multiplied. On my breaks I’d hurry over to talk to him, and of course when I got shy, draw him something. Who knew something so ugly would be a key player in our story? Of course, there were far uglier things we had encountered.
However, the campus had its own beauty, one that I wasn’t used to. During one of my breaks we took a walk and he picked this little dandelion for me, I still have it somewhere. By then my hand was freed from the ring I wore on my middle finger for way too long.
